Carrboro Mayor Lydia Lavelle is proud to announce the second annual Poetry/Essay Contest: “What Baseball/Softball Means to Me!” This contest is open to all elementary, middle and high school students that reside in Carrboro. The poem/essay should be no more than 300 words. All pieces must be original works by the author. The deadline to enter will be May 17, 2019. Winners will be announced in three categories based on current grade. Winners will be recognized during a Board of Aldermen’s meeting in June. This contest is a partnership with the MLB Play Ball initiative with the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
