Google Fiber to Start Back Construction Next Week

After re-evaluating construction Plans Google Fiber is set to start back construction in Carrboro the week of January 13, 2020. The Town of Carrboro and Google Fiber are excited to move forward with this process that will provide faster, fairer, kinder, internet to Carrboro! Public safety is the highest priority for the Town – we will continue to work closely with Google Fiber, OWASA, and Dominion Gas to improve coordination and communication on this project that will ultimately be of great benefit for our community. The following are locations that Google Fiber plans to work next week (week of Jan 13th).


Traditional Boring Locations: 

  • Main St from Davie St back towards Fidelity St, moving onto Fidelity to the hut
  • Old Fayetteville Rd, down and including Berryhill Dr
  • Mary St, Lorraine St and Carol
  • Weathervane Dr and work northward along Bolin Forest Dr and Bolin Creek Dr

Microtrench Subdivision Location: 

  • Lake Hogan Farm "area" - efforts from locators much less and we will coordinate with the locators directly
